Our Beginning

HaliPopcorn was built from the ground up in 2023 by David Kimm.

Our first sale happened at Cory’s Lil Anglers, right on the waterfront. With a simple market setup and a handful of flavours, we tested the idea: could fresh, locally made popcorn become something bigger?

The response was immediate. Customers loved the freshness, the simplicity, and the local feel. That first market proved something important — there was room in Nova Scotia for a popcorn brand focused on quality and community.

That day marked the beginning of what would become HaliPopcorn.

Our First Market Day

After our first sale, we took the next step, setting up at our very first market.

It wasn’t fancy. A popcorn machine, a folding table, and every bag we could produce. We learned quickly  how to display product, how much to bring, what flavors customers gravitated toward, and how presentation was important.

That first market taught us more than any business plan ever could. It showed us that people weren’t just buying popcorn, they were supporting something local.

That day turned HaliPopcorn from an idea into a real business.

Taking HaliPopcorn Across the Water

In partnership with Nova Scotia Loyal, we sold on our first ferry, introducing HaliPopcorn to customers beyond the market scene.

What started as a small community stand was now reaching new audiences across Nova Scotia. This milestone showed us that our brand had the potential to travel, and that local businesses supporting each other can create real momentum.

It was a defining moment in our growth.

Building Across Nova Scotia

What started in Halifax is now growing across the province.

Our goal is to make HaliPopcorn a recognizable Nova Scotian brand, one built on quality, reliability, and local pride. From markets to ferries, schools to online orders, each step forward brings us closer to expanding province-wide.

We’re not just selling popcorn.
We're popping great quality
